ATC SCM50A with Linn Selekt DSM

ATC and Linn have been a popular pairing over the years. The simplicity of a loudspeaker with internal amplification and Linn’s own pedigree in producing both Analogue and Digital sources, often results in a match made in heaven. This is another great example of such a system, and which our customer was only to happy for us to share in our blog. We also couldn’t help but love his living room as well!

Keen to improve on his existing Hi-Fi’s performance and ideally reduce the box count (and cabling) the customer visited us with the idea of moving to an active speaker system. The conversation quickly moved onto ATC and our admiration for the active SCM50A! The customer was excited at the idea and fell in love when he saw our demonstration model in the High Gloss Pippy Oak finish. Photos are pre-upgrade…box count was greatly reduced!

Initially hoping to go for a standard finish to manage costs, it became very apparent after a home loan the High Gloss Pippy Oak finish was a must and the additional premium was a no brainer. Look at the pictures, how could you not go for them in such a fantastic space?!

Let’s not forget the sources… a significant (huge!) upgrade from a Linn Akurate DS to the Selekt Edition HUB with Dual Organik DAC’s meant the customer retained the Linn signature sound and interface he has always been very fond of. As a top end Streamer/DAC/Phonostage/Pre-amplifier straight into the ATC’s we had landed upon a simplified system without compromise, captivating from the first note. Being a “source first” approach company let’s not forget the trusty LP12, two Linn sources, two active speakers. Simple, elegant and stunning to boot!
