Less than a month since we took delivery of the rather superb sounding Antipodes Kala K50, it’s older sibling, the Antipodes Oladra, has just arrived here at The Audiobarn.
I don’t think it would be unfair to think of the KALA K50 as a very powerful and effective server and streamer, featuring a somewhat utilitarian and functional design aesthetic. It’s beautiful to the ear, but unlikely to take the shelf of your hi-fi rack or prime position on your sideboard. By complete contrast, the Oladra is quite stunning! A gorgeous piece of aluminium alloy shaped and contoured perfectly.
What we think…
All of the Antipodes range feature thorough and highly advanced designs at every stage of the digital chain. The isolation, re-clocking and software options on hand really do enable the maximum performance to be achieved from your DAC. ROON is superb, but if your DAC has better synergy with other servers/streamer architecture, then that option is available to you.
We also like the fact that you can start lower down the range with a KALA 21, and by adding a KALA 41 at a later date you can achieve the same magic offer by the KALA 50 having the server and streamer on separate computers/processors.

Try at home…
Both models can be auditioned at home so please get in touch if you would like to hear these units at home, or a side by demonstration here at ‘The Barn’.
