The Quad 33 / 303 has arrived late in 2024 when retro/re-engineered Hifi equipment is at an all-time high. The original 33 Pre Amplifier, partnered with the 303 Power Amplifier achieved legendary status in the late 60’s when Quad were winning Industrial Design Awards. Fast forward 57 years and they still look just as stunning and have continued to gain media attention and fresh awards that just keep coming!
We’ve eagerly awaited the arrival of our demonstration models and are impressed with the “modern” feature set offered and exemplary build quality – they are diminutive but absolutely solid. The 33 has tone controls, IR remote control, headphone amplifier, phono input (both MM and MC) as well as XLR ins and outs. The 303 Power Amplifier is 70W into 4 ohms or 170W into 4 ohms when bridged to make it a “mono block”, it also sports XLR inputs. For £1199 a box you can put aside the fact these are an iconic remake and take them for what they are, superbly designed products for incredible value in todays market.
We think the 33 with a pair of 303’s will not only look sensational but provide any amplification sub £4k stiff competition, we can’t wait to try the 3 box set up! For now here is a gallery of the new gear in our Valve Room:
